8 oz. Thick-Cut Bacon, diced 1⁄2 cup Yellow Onions, finely diced 1 oz. Whiskey 1⁄2 cup Brown Sugar 1⁄4 cup Texas Pete® Hotter Hot Sauce 1 French Bread Baguette, sliced, toasted 1 (8.5 oz.) Cream Cheese 1⁄4 cup Microgreens
1. In a large nonstick skillet over high heat, add bacon and cook for about 10 minutes or until bacon is crispy but not burned. Remove bacon from skillet, set aside. Leave remaining grease in skillet. 2. Add onions to the skillet with bacon grease and cook for 8 minutes, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for another 30 minutes until onions have caramelized. 3. Remove from heat, and then add whiskey. 4. Place back on heat and add cooked bacon and brown sugar to the skillet and cook for 30 minutes on low until it resembles jam consistency. Remove from heat and stir in Texas Pete® Hotter Hot Sauce. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve. 5. Serve and enjoy! Serving suggestion: Great with toasted French bread and topped with cream cheese and a pinch of microgreens.
